Web design, SEO and web apps for Moray businesses

Done properly by one person: a custom website that brings in work, local SEO so you’re found on Google, and web apps and phone apps that take jobs off your hands.

Web design that brings in work

Every site is designed and custom-coded from scratch for your business. No WordPress templates, no page builders, no plugins to update every week, and nothing shared with thousands of other sites.

  • A page for each service you offer, so Google and your customers can find it
  • Your reviews and real photos where people look first
  • Tap-to-call on every page and a contact form that comes straight to you
  • Quick on phones, and built to pass Google’s speed tests
  • Clean, accessible code that passes the W3C checks
  • A simple way to update it yourself, if you want one

Local SEO: found on Google, then chosen

Most people find a local business on Google Maps, then check the website before they ring. Local SEO (search engine optimisation) is about getting both right, and I set up both properly.

  • Pages for the towns and areas you cover
  • Your Google Business Profile checked and tidied, with no duplicate listings
  • Google Search Console set up at launch, so we can see what people search for
  • Writing that answers what your customers actually ask
  • Google Ads if it makes sense for you, though for most local businesses the website and Google profile come first

I’ve done it for myself too. My travel site, Live Breathe Scotland, gets around 50,000 visitors a month and earns through Mediavine advertising, all from content and search.

Not sure how your site’s doing?

A free check of your website in about 30 seconds: speed on a phone, how it looks to Google, broken links and more, with Google’s own scores and plain-English fixes.

Visitor stats you can actually read

Google Analytics is powerful, but most business owners open it once and never go back. So I can build a simple stats page into your website instead, showing what you actually want to know, in plain English.

  • How many people visited today, this week and this month, and whether that’s going up
  • Which pages they looked at most
  • Kept on your own website, so you don’t need a Google account to see it
  • Made for your business: if there’s something you want to keep an eye on, I can add it
  • Easy to read on your phone

Already use Google Analytics? You can keep it running alongside.

Web development: web apps and phone apps

If there’s a job you do by phone, paper or spreadsheet over and over, a web app or a phone app might do it for you. This is the web development side of what I do.

Bookings and enquiries

Customers pick a date, tell you what they need, and it lands in your inbox ready to confirm.

Bay Tree Florists: online enquiries doubled within weeks.

Searchable records

Databases people can search from their phone, with simple admin screens so you can keep them up to date.

Buckie War Memorial: all 362 names, searchable by name and regiment.

Shops and dashboards

Sell online with an e-commerce shop, take payments, or give yourself a dashboard that pulls everything into one place.

Built around you: client portals, quotes, stock and workflow tools.

Phone apps

An app your customers keep on their phone for bookings, offers and updates, or one your team uses out on jobs for job sheets, photos and sign-offs.

Honest advice first: tell me the job and I’ll tell you whether it needs an app, or whether a website can do it.

Every website is built for the business it’s for, so the final price depends on what you need. These are the usual ranges, and you get the price in writing before anything starts.

Questions people ask

How much does a website cost?

Starter websites are £300 to £600, or about £25 to £50 a month. Small business websites of five to ten pages are £800 to £3,000. Online shops are £1,500 to £20,000+, depending on how many products you have and what the checkout needs to do. Bookings, web apps and phone apps are priced after a quick chat, because they depend on what the job is. You always get the price in writing before anything starts. No surprises.

How long does it take?

Most websites take four to eight weeks from our first chat to going live. Web apps and bigger sites can take longer. I’ll give you a realistic date at the start and keep you posted.

How do I pay?

Usually half to start and the rest when the site is finished and you’re happy. For bigger projects we can split it into stages.

Will I be able to update it myself?

If you’ll be changing things often, I’ll build in a simple way to edit your pages and show you how to use it. If you’d rather not, just send me what you need changing.

Can I see how my website is doing?

Yes. I can build a simple stats page into your website showing how many people visited, which pages they looked at and how that’s changing, in plain English. It’s an easier alternative to Google Analytics, and you can keep both if you like.

Do you look after hosting?

Yes. I offer secure hosting and maintenance, so your site is backed up, kept up to date and running smoothly, with one person to call if anything needs doing.

My web designer has disappeared. Can you take over my website?

Yes. I find out who holds your domain, hosting and email, get them into your name, and either fix the site or rebuild it. How website rescue works.

Can you write the words for me?

Yes. Plenty of people know their trade inside out but hate writing about it. I can write your pages from a chat with you, or tidy up words you’ve already got.

Can you build a phone app?

Yes. Tell me what you’d like it to do and who’ll use it, and I’ll suggest the simplest way to build it. Sometimes that’s an app people install, and sometimes a web app that works brilliantly on phones does the job quicker and for less.

Do you work outside Moray?

Yes, across Scotland and the UK, mostly by phone, email and video call. Most of my clients are local, though, and I like being able to meet them. How it works across Scotland.
