How does your website score?
Enter your web address and I’ll check the things that matter most to a local business: speed on a phone, security, how it looks to Google, and whether people can ring you with one tap. It takes about 30 seconds, and it’s free.
Checks your homepage. Free, up to three websites a day, with no sign-up.
Checking your website…
This takes about 30 seconds. Google’s speed test is the slow part.
Want me to fix these?
I’ll design your new homepage for free, so you can see the difference before deciding anything. Or ring me and I’ll talk you through the results.
What it checks
The basics that decide whether someone who finds you on Google actually gets in touch. It’s an automatic check of your homepage, so for the full picture I’m happy to look at your site properly, for free.
Speed on a phone
Google’s own speed test, run as if on a phone. Slow pages lose visitors before they’ve seen anything.
Set up for phones
Whether the page fits a phone screen, or people have to pinch and zoom.
Secure connection
Whether browsers show your site as secure, or warn people that it’s “Not secure”.
Ready for Google
Your page title, the description Google shows, and a clear main heading.
Business details for Google
Whether your site tells Google your name, address and phone in the format it reads best for local searches.
Easy to get in touch
Tap-to-call, an email link or a form, and whether the links on your homepage actually work.
Picture sizes
How much smaller Google says your pictures could be, which is often why a page is slow.
Easy for everyone to use
Google’s accessibility check: text that’s hard to read, buttons too small to tap, links screen readers can’t follow.
Privacy policy
Whether your homepage links to one, which UK data protection law expects if you collect people’s details.
About the check
Is it really free?
Yes. There’s nothing to sign up for and no catch. To keep it running for everyone, you can check up to three websites a day (checking the same one again after a fix doesn’t count). If your website needs work, you can ask me for a free homepage mock-up, but you don’t have to.
What does it check?
Your homepage: its speed on a phone, picture sizes, and Google’s own search and accessibility scores (all from Google’s test), whether it’s set up for phones, a secure connection, the page title, description and main heading, tap-to-call and other ways to get in touch, whether the links work, your business details for Google, a privacy policy, picture descriptions (alt text), the picture shown when it’s shared, and whether the footer looks up to date.
Why does my speed score change each time?
Google’s speed test runs a fresh test every time, and the result moves a little with the server and the network at that moment. A difference of a few points isn’t worth worrying about. A score in the 20s or 30s is.
Can a quick check tell me everything?
No. It’s an automatic check of your homepage, so it can’t judge how your site looks, what it says, or how you show up on Google Maps. For that, I’ll look at it properly for you, for free.
What happens to the address I enter?
I keep a note of the addresses checked and the results, so I can see how the check is used. You don’t give me your name or email unless you ask me to email you the results. More in my privacy policy.

- 1You tell me about your business. Two minutes on this form, or a quick call.
